Level of thinking...

The significant problems we have can't be solved at the same level of thinking with which we created them.
- Einstein
(Sivakumar Sakthibalan has this quote in his Gmail status)

(I am hoping to understand this quote some day! Does he mean that all "significant problems that we have" were created by us or our thinking? That's too presumptuous. Perhaps, it should be understood in the context in which it was made. Or, it is somewhat misquoted...)

  1. This was more of Einstein's observation than a quote. Yes all quotes are some form of observation. It could be that the short term perspective for achieving goals creates problems which could have been avoided if the focus was shifted to bigger picture which means long term perspective. What I understood was the change in perspective is absolutely necessary and the level of thinking explains it.

  2. I don't think so this statement is to blame the individual or his thinking. Its more towards perspective of things. The necessary of focus shifts to optimum level is what would be my take in it.
